Montgomery County Law Enforcement Continuing Education

In conjunction with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, NMS Labs will present two continuing education training sessions for law enforcement from Montgomery County and surrounding counties. The trainings will be held on
Thursday June 19. NMS Labs routinely works with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in order to determine training needs for county law enforcement personnel.
Forensic biologist, Arthur Young will be speaking about the collection and preservation of sexual assault evidence. Young plans to share information on best practices for evidence collection in sexual assaults and provide casework examples during his presentation. Cases will cover the identification of semen and other bodily fluids as well as DNA analysis.
Forensic Toxicologist, Laura M. Labay, Ph.D., DABFT will be speaking on the toxicological component of drug facilitated sexual assault investigations. Dr. Labay will provide insight into the appropriate specimen types that should be collected as well information that should be collected by the investigating agency, so that a thorough interpretation of the findings can be performed.
Both speakers are considered nationally known experts in their fields and have provided expert testimony as well as consulting services on several high-profile cases. NMS Labs proudly offers its clients these and other expert services for educational purposes.
