Alkyl Tins Monitoring—Keeping Employees Safe
Situation: NMS Labs' toxicologists are active members of many professional associations. One of our toxicologists, Dr. Lee Blum, was contacted by an associate member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association who works as an industrial hygienist at an industrial chemical production plant. The plant was concerned about the employees’ potential risk of exposure to methyl tins.
Action: The industrial hygienist wanted NMS Labs to develop an on-site test to screen employees for exposure.
Results: NMS Labs was successful in developing and validating an assay that screens for methyl tins and its biomarkers. Many samples were tested, and several results were elevated. Subsequent effective monitoring allowed the plant to continue operating safely.
