Add 25 mL of 50% acetic acid or 25 mL of 6N HCl at the start of the collection. Refrigerate immediately. Avoid alcohol, tobacco (including use of nicotine patch), tea and coffee, bananas, citrus fruits and strenuous exercise prior to specimen collection. Avoid medications for 3 days prior to specimen collection.
